Your headshot is one of your most important tools !
You only get one chance to make a good first impression. Headshots are a critical piece of many professionals. A dynamic headshot for models, actors and other professionals will be the difference between gaining the job. Here are some suggestions to make sure your headshot is a great one.
Look like your headshot. Don’t try and look like someone you’re not. Give your clients an accurate version of yourself.
Keep your clothes simple. Simple clothing helps the viewer see YOU. Avoid patterns and prints and go for a solid colour.
Lots of Personality! Your individual personality makes you special. Show your personality in the headshot. Make it shine.
Go easy on the makeup. You want to look your best for your headshot but this doesn’t mean piling on the makeup. See our past blog on makeup for Headshots for more information.
Emphasis on the eyes. Look into the camera in your headshot. Think of your headshot as your first opportunity to make eye contact with your client, agent or casting director. If there is nothing going on behind the eyes, no one will give you a second look.
No Distractions. A good headshot will focus in on the subject and only include what is necessary in the photo. Nothing should distract the viewer from the main point of interest.
A good headshot will generally invite the viewer in and make them want to know more about the subject.
Be yourself and show what makes you unique.
