As a new model, aim to include between 6 – 12 photos; especially when you are presenting yourself to a new agency or client.
As an established model, your Portfolio should have between 10 – 25 photos.

When it comes to wearing makeup for your modelling headshots, it should be very simple but very well done. Your make up should help the viewer focus on the eyes and the mouth which are the essence of the headshot.
It is recommended to wear what you would wear on a normal day but more polished. You want to look like yourself. If you normally don’t wear makeup then it is silly to pile it on for your headshots.
