Your modelling Portfolio is a true first impression of yourself as a model.
A great headshot can not only get you called in for an audition, but it can also get you booked directly for a job. Many models are booked directly from their photos in their portfolio without having to attend a models audition.
This is why the photos in your Portfolio are so important.
Your modelling portfolio will be what sells you when you are looking for a modelling job. It can make or break your career as it is how some designers view your overall appearance.
The quality of the photos you choose to put in your Portfolio is important. These photos need to impress agencies and clients and make you stand out from the rest.
It’s better to have fewer photos that are great than having more that are of poor quality.
As a new model, aim to include between 6 – 12 photos; especially when you are presenting yourself to a new agency or client.
As an established model, your Portfolio should have between 10 – 25 photos.
The purpose of a modelling Portfolio is to show your good looks and to also demonstrate your ability to portray different characters and personalities.
For this reason it is important to include good headshot photographs.
When it comes to wearing makeup for your modelling headshots, it should be very simple but very well done. Your make up should help the viewer focus on the eyes and the mouth which are the essence of the headshot.
It is recommended to wear what you would wear on a normal day but more polished. You want to look like yourself. If you normally don’t wear makeup then it is silly to pile it on for your headshots. The headshots will look unnatural. Should you require a makeup artist for your modelling portfolio photoshoot BradKay Photographix would be happy to assist.
